Jason D. Hintersteiner, CWNE #171, CWNT

Founder, President, and Chief Technology Officer

Jason D. Hintersteiner, CWNE #171, CWNT is an expert in the small-to-medium business (SMB) Wi-Fi market, possessing a unique perspective on the industry by having worked in engineering and marketing roles for both wireless internet service providers and access point equipment vendors. Over the past decade, Mr. Hintersteiner has been a principal network architect and analyst for several hundred wired, Wi-Fi, and point-to-multipoint wireless networks, spanning multiple verticals including hospitality, student housing, assisted living, residential apartments, religious non-profit, education, warehouses, factories, commercial offices, and retail.  Mr. Hintersteiner has also taught dozens of vendor-specific training courses. Mr Hintersteiner has also served as an expert witness in multiple legal cases involving network forensic analysis and patent litigation.

Past Work Experience:  Mr. Hintersteiner served for two years as the Manager of the Field Application Engineering department at EnGenius Technologies, Inc., responsible for supervising both pre-sales technical designs as well as post-sales troubleshooting and support across the entire EnGenius product portfolio of Wi-Fi access points, managed network switches, wired and wireless surveillance cameras, and long-range cordless telephony. Additionally, Mr. Hintersteiner worked for six years as the Vice President of Technology for Spot On Networks, LLC, a national wireless internet service provider (WISP) for multi-dwelling unit housing. In this role, Mr. Hintersteiner’s chief responsibility was to scale the managed service business, quintupling both the number and complexity of managed networks during his tenure by directing the continuous development and improvement of the quality, reliability, and standardization of the firm’s network services, as well as creating internal processes for network monitoring and management. Prior to entering the field of Wi-Fi networking, Mr. Hintersteiner worked for ten years at ASML as a Product Systems Engineer, performing research and development of leading-edge photolithography systems for the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

 

Education: Mr. Hintersteiner holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. Mr. Hintersteiner has earned several network industry technical certifications, most notably achieving the Certified Wireless Network Expert (CWNE #171) through CWNP in 2015, as well as becoming a Certified Wireless Network Trainer (CWNT) in 2018. Mr. Hintersteiner has also presented and published at numerous technical conferences, and holds 20 patents spanning both wireless networking and Optical Maskless Lithography.
